On Tuesday, October 13th, The Delaware National Guard presented The Kenny Family Foundation with a plaque in honor of our dedication and commitment to provide assistance to the brave men and women, serving and protecting our country, as well as our support of their Family Readiness Program. Military involvement runs deep in the heart of The Kenny Family Foundation, as three of our board members have been involved in the armed forces with Bernie Kenny, serving our country in the 101st Airborne Division, Jim Leonard, a Vietnam Veteran, and Christopher Kenny Esq., a graduate of Valley Forge Military Academy. General Vavala spoke at length of the constant support from our foundation over the years and shared a special thanks to Bernie Kenny, owner of Delaware Supermarkets Inc., for his distinguished dedication to his country.

The Delaware National Guard Family Program

The Delaware National Guard Family Program Office serves as a liaison, to address the needs each family may have pertaining to their loved one’s enrollment in the national guard. The program provides families with a full education of the military programs, benefits, and resources available to each family. Some of the accommodating services, provided by the National Guard, are quality of life and self-sufficiency classes, referral and information services, volunteer training, readiness workshops & briefings, youth programs, and emergency assistance.

Heather Hook, Executive Director of The Kenny Family Foundation:

“The Kenny Family Foundation has been privileged to work with the Delaware National Guard and the team under CSMC Dawn Peet, for many years. We applaud her tireless efforts to represent the families of our soldiers.  On behalf of our foundation, we truly believe the Delaware National Guard is not only our neighbor and our protector, but also our family.”

Our thanks filled the room, as Christopher Kenny, Esq. shared his admiration for the men and women in the Delaware National Guard, and their selfless and honorable service, working tirelessly to protect our country. It has been an honor for The Kenny Family Foundation to be present over the years, as the Delaware National Guard departed and returned from their service overseas and thank them for their bravery and strength.
