The Salvation Army is seeking help from the Delaware community this season – asking for volunteers to sort, unpack, and stock shelves, as well as assist families shopping at the Annual Christmas Toy Shoppe. Every holiday season, the Salvation Army obtains a warehouse in the New Castle County Industrial Park and fills it to the brim with donations received from generous community members, such as toys, clothing, housewares, and more. The Christmas Toy Shoppe was created to provide help for area’s most vulnerable families and ensure every child has a gift on Christmas morning, allowing them to experience the joy of Christmas. In past years, the Salvation Army has collected an abundance of gifts, helping over 900 families achieve a memorable Christmas for their children. This year, our foundation aspires to help the Salvation Army reach out to more families, in hopes to bring a smile to all children in Delaware, celebrating Christmas, as they wake up to find presents from Santa under the tree.

christmas-doing-goodWe have reached out to our Kenny Elves, the 1,700 plus associates working across the ShopRites of Delaware stores, and invited them to help the Salvation Army lift the financial burdens faced by many families in our community, during this holiday season. Join us in the spirit of giving, this holiday season, by volunteering your time, donating a gift to the Christmas Toy Shoppe, or participating in the Salvation Army Angel Tree. The Angel Tree will be set up at the Concord and Christiana Mall from November 13th through December 17th, allowing shoppers to pick a child’s name on the tree and purchase a gift based on their wish list.

If you and your family are looking for assistance this holiday season, please visit the Salvation Army’s website or call, 302-472-0750.
