Over the years, both the Brandywine and Christiana rivers have seen eye-opening transformations, in thanks to the Riverfront Development Corporation.  The Riverfront Wilmington, once considered a polluted, industrial wasteland is now seen as a thriving, up-and-coming hot spot within Wilmington.  Thanks to the RDC – founded to restore the riverfront’s economic vitality, enhance the environment, encourage historical preservation, and promote public access along the Brandywine and Christiana rivers – the Wilmington Riverfront now is welcomed by large crowds looking for live theater, concerts, restaurants, and the arts.  Currently, the RDC is hosting the 2015 Shipyard Summer Concert Series at the riverfront to provide our community with the access to live music.

The availability of live music is imperative in every community, it provides the public access to cultural experiences while also helping reduce stress, relieve anxiety, increase brain activity, and even aid in the retention of our memory.

Neuroscientists have discovered that listening to music heightens positive emotion through the reward centers of our brain, stimulating hits of dopamine that can make us feel good or even elated. – Jill Suttie, Huffington Post

The Shipyard Summer Concert Series was created with a goal to provide the community with FREE access to cultural experiences, while enriching the lives of residents in New Castle County during the sunny summer months.  The concerts kicked off in July and continues into August, treating listeners to the sounds of jazz, country, blues, reggae, and opera.   The diverse range of genres provide our community the opportunity to experience a large spectrum of music right here in our backyard.

Concert dates throughout August:
