For a day of patriotic family fun in the sun, look no further than the Hockessin Fourth of July celebrations! The day kicks off early at 8am with an abundance of events planned for your family’s enjoyment at Piedmont Fields, and ends with a firework finale at dusk. Read below for a timeline of the day’s programming.

Relays1

8:00am – Bring your kids out for the Neighborhood Relays and participate in a variety of games and fun activities. The winning teams will be honored with a spot in the afternoon parade!

2:30pm – Hockessin coordinators will be seeking participants for the 1st Annual “Great American Gut Buster Food Devouring Spectacle,” an eating contest designed for brave individuals with a healthy appetite!  Contest winners will receive bragging rights and the glorious Gut Buster Belt through the consumption of wings, hotdogs, burgers and oysters.

 

Hockessin-Truck

3:00pm – After the contest, the parade will begin featuring an array of floats, music, classic cars and star-spangled nostalgia. The parade will take place on Old Lancaster Pike, beginning at Kenwick Road and finishing at Valley Road.

Last but not least, end an eventful day with a bang! Find the perfect spot on the grass at Piedmont Fields at the Hockessin Public Library. Spread out your blankets and set up your lawn chairs to watch the spectacular fireworks display beginning at dusk.
