The Kenny Family Foundation is a lean organization with one full time staff member. Our tiny foundation has a strong and widespread impact in New Castle County because our KFF delegates of Delaware volunteer and represent our organization.
(hence the catchy title KFFDElegates)
Oh Boy. We always need help with this stuff. Data to enter in excel, Letters to write in word or by hand, signs to make, follow-ups and testimonials to collect from our Partners, pictures to collect, bulletin boards to create, social media to post, deliveries to make or mail and phone calls to answer! We are laid back and down to earth, and much of the help we need could be done on your own time or from home.
If you have time during the day, love nutrition, planning meals and grocery shopping we need you! Our Mentors provide contact and outreach to our schools, visit the schools with us for the Student Shopper Program, engage the students in the program, talk to parents on the school parent’s nights and reign in the chaos when 50-100 elementary students from the school visit a ShopRite store for their spring field trip.
If you have nights or weekends free, we LOVE to have KFF tables at the front of the store. There is nothing like a smiling face and a warm cookie or giveaway item to make customer stop so you can tell them more about the work we do in the community. We do not ask our Greeters to ask for donations, customers are only asked at the registers. Very flexible- tell us a time you can arrive and leave and we will have a table waiting for setup!
We need you everywhere at community events- tables with information, giveaways, and recruiting more volunteers. This is an area of major importance where we currently are not finding the staff or the resources to man tables and spread the word about our community support.
Love to run 5k’s, ride your bike, participate in danceathons, dive into icy polar plunges or go crazy or mud runs? We constantly have opportunities for KFF to be involved as athletic participants in these types of fundraisers and would love to you be our rep for events.
KFF has only one major fundraiser a year and it’s is a MEGAevent, with three separate events running in succession with a golf outing at three clubs. We need people to help prepare for the event, recruit sponsors and auction donations, and coordinate materials months in advance. Much of this work can be done on your own time.
Just like us, many nonprofits in the community are small and need extra hands the day of their event. They reach out to us because they are in need of volunteers for their actual events. These volunteers hand out water and tshirts, sell raffle tickets, help with silent auctions, serve food, or dress up as Santa, walk dogs, grill hot dogs and you name it. If you would like to be on a group email list that is sent out when a Partner tells us they needs hands let us know!
Our volunteers are valuable to our foundation for many reasons, most of all being the credibility that paid staff or consultants never have. You can advocate peer-to-peer, and promote KFF because you believe in our mission. Volunteering is a personal choice, not your job.
