Last month was the first anniversary of the WXPN Musicians on Call at the Christiana Care Health System’s Wilmington Hospital. This expansive organization has helped over 70,000 patients and their families, bringing live music to the bedsides of patients through weekly programs at The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, Hospital at the University of Pennsylvania, Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, Our Lady of Lourdes Medical Center, Philadelphia VA Medical Center, St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children, and the recent addition of the Christiana Care Health System’s Wilmington Hospital. The Christiana Care Health System’s Wilmington Hospital, has joined WXPN’s Musicians on Call Program in an effort to bring music to the bedsides of their patients in need of love and support during difficult times.
WXPN Musicians on Call offers many different programs to bring joy to ailing hospital patients. They have created a CD Pharmacy Program, receiving hundreds of CD donations stored for patients to access and listen, calling on the healing powers of music, at no charge. Another special offering is Project Playback, a unique program giving long-term patients the opportunity to pair up with a professional musician for 6-8 weekly sessions to create their own album filled with original music.
Thank you to all the sponsors who joined us in making the launch of the WXPN Musicians on Call at the Wilmington Hospital such an unimaginable success – Delaware Supermarkets Inc, World Cafe Live, Gable Music Ventures, Light Up the Queen Foundation, Musicians On Call Volunteers, and WXPN. The WXPN Musicians on Call program is truly about the gift of giving and we are honored to be a part of the celebrations at the Christiana Care Health System’s Wilmington Hospital, for a successful and life changing first year!
